I wrote this poem four years ago, as a senior in high school, preparing myself to leave the place I call home. It was a time of self-reflection upon a hazy future -- not unlike what I feel right now. I came across it while I was looking at old journals. It's still one of my favorite pieces of writing." As I walked out one evening,
I saw the brightest eyes. Astounded by their daring play, my head turned to the skies. How endlessly they congregate, the fine display of light. Against a darkened tapestry, and blinking through the night. Their simple charm it blinded me, just like a magic show. I fell in utter wonderment, a victim of their glow. I lay serene and self-possessed, impressions soaring high, a vast unknown just in my grasp, t’was how I wished to die. |
